Problem: This project was to design a wedding invitation for a middle-aged couple who were hosting a surprise wedding. This wedding was both parties’ second marriage, and they requested a simple, double-sided card using their monogram, which the bride had designed. They asked for a design that would communicate this was a casual event to their guests. They requested a rustic theme correlating with their venue, flowers, and decorations.

Solution: This project began with a mind map and mood board focusing on the word rustic. The project started with a canvas of wood planks. I chose white for the font color, which contrasted nicely with the wood. I chose a rustic font named Bourbon Whiskey as the primary font. Bourbon Whiskey has a stamp or a “brand” appearance that complements the overall theme. The secondary font is CondorComp Md for its simple lines and ease of readability. Scrivano font was used only for the first names of the bride and groom and the back for the small block of text that communicates the message for the response date and the limited seating.
