Problem: This project’s scope involved choosing a portrait of a famous person and transforming the image into a work of art using only words and a single font. Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop were the only two software options that could be used to create this piece.

Solution: I chose to work with Adobe Photoshop and Samuel L. Jackson as my subject for my GRA 340 final project, “Typography Portrait.” Jackson is a charismatic, driven individual with a strong personality. He is a born leader, knows how to work a room, and has superstar status starring in more than one hundred movies. Jackson demands a strong presence, not only in his characters but also in his vocabulary. He is a free thinker demanding freedom to be his own person and attain his goal. He does not allow anyone to stand in his way. Because of Jackson’s characteristics, I chose the bold font Pulp Fiction M54, created by justme54s in January 2011.
